I recently bought a Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB Serial ATA Hard Drive - 7200RPM, 64MB, SATA 6Gb/s and after installing windows I noticed that anything from opening the recycle bin or hitting the windows button made windows unresponsive for about a minute or two. I tried installing some of the required updates from my MB disc but it still seems to be extremely slow. I'm unsure whether I have a problem with my new hard drive or if I may have forgotten to do something software wise. Any help on the matter would be appreciated.

Well if you are installing drivers from a disc instead of downloading the latest from the web this makes me wonder how up to date your drivers are. Make sure you have the latest drivers for sound, video and network and anything else you might find at your motherboard's support center.

More info would help. Was this computer working well on another install of Windows and the hard drive is the only new part? What ver. of Windows? Etc. What CPU, motherboard, how much RAM? EDIT: If there is any doubt about the hard drive download the test software from the Seagate's site and run it. http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/seatools/
