Can the WD my cloud back up to a remote my cloud? This is described as a feature in the mycloud mirror and ex2 ex4 but what about the base model? I'd like to buy two of the 4tb models, leave one at my home and one remote at a friend or family members home. Each of us would back up locally and then the my clouds could back up to each other. so we gain local and remote back up. Alternatively can you set your home computers to back up to both a local and a remote my cloud? So we would not depend on the my clouds to sync but instead back up twice, once local once over the internet.

Unfortunately, i dont have the answer, im too still searching, ive just bought my 2nd 4TB my cloud, hoping i could possibly use it also for offsite backup (automatically), appears this is not the case, but apparently somebody with a little linux expierance may able to configure it to do so, i suspect it will void its warranty... but at the moment, its an expensive paper weight.....

I also have the same question, and looking to try an answer in the upcoming future. At this point I can tell you that it seems you backup your Mycloud content via Safepoint configuration.

So you can backup your My cloud Data in another My cloud Data locally or other device that implements local-2-remote (dropbox, onedrive, google drive).

Here is the list of supported devices: hope this helps!

The solution I came up with is to turn on SSH on both, change the root password to something secure, and use rsync to mirror the drives. It works really well and is fast if you have a high speed connection.

Could you point me into the right direction with regards to setting up rsync between my two clouds? I have one at work and the one I want to backup into at home. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
