How can I reduce the usage of the cpu

Hi, when IM in gaming the fps drop for 1 min and the meter of the windows 7 gadget(CPU usage) gets high. So I need advices to reduce the usage of the CPU. thanks for your time

Would also strongly recommend shutting down any other programs you have running that aren't part of the game. Also what system specs and game. Also having a bunch of windows gadgets and animations turned on is bad for system performance.
