CPU still running above 62 Celsius after applying thermal paste

So after wiping off the old thermal paste which I thought was dust (since it looked and broke apart like dust), I applied a new one as instructed (Antec Formula 6 since no retailers in my area carry Arctic Silver 5 for some reason). At first it was 40 Celsius, but it quickly shot back up to 60 idle, 70 from just firefox being open, and 80 when playing a video.

I know it takes some time before thermal compounds work at their best, but it shouldn't be going over 62 Celsius correct? Any suggestions or help?

RealTemp says it doesn't support my AMD Phenom II X4 840, I'm also using CoreTemp and it's consistent with HWInfo

Then something wring with your CPU cooler.

I like CoreTemp.

Can you see you rad, or is it blocked by the fan and case mesh? Take the fan off it and blow the dust out with compressed air(not too much direct pressure).

Paste shouldn't make too much of a difference. But don't fret over AS5, shouldn't use that paste anyway; unless you have already have a tube kicking around. Tom's tested all the pastes:

Yeah I can see the radiator. And I've dusted everything i can with a duster already. Fans, meshes, heat sinks, etc.

You most likely have a dead pump. Try to listen for any sound coming from the CPU block. If it's shot, it'll likely make a grinding/gurgling noise, or no noise at all if it's just flat-out dead. A working water pump makes a steady, continuous hum and you should be able to easily hear whether or not it's working properly.
