Hi guys, i need some help.
I am looking to upgrade my PC. My current specifications are as follows
Case - Thermaltake spacecraft with PSU included (500 watts)
CPU - I5 3570
MOBO - gigabyte h77m - d3h
Memory - 8gb Corsair vengeance
Graphics - Gigabyte 660 ti
Optical - Sata DVD burner
Hard drive - 1 tb seagate 7200 rpm
Now, i have purchased a PNY gtx 770 and i want to run my 660 ti as a dedicated physX card. how big of a power supply do i need and would it fit in to my case? and how much watts would be required to comfortably run this system? thanks;-)

It will fit. The Gold etc. ratings denote efficiency under load. I don't recall what the percentages actually are, but the lowest is 80+ (Eighty plus) and the very best most efficient is Platinum. Here are a couple links that explain it far better then I can.

Generally, the very top rated PSU's are built better then the lower ones and often carry a better/longer warranty.
In real life, you won't see a huge difference in your power bill between a Gold and Silver unit, and only a small savings using a Gold unit instead of a Bronze, and that only if you use your PC fairly heavily all the time.
You need to be aware, too, that manufactures...
You are wise to consider replacing the current PSU. A good 640watt - 750 watt unit will probably work well; You are going to need approx. 55amps on the 12Volt rail(s).
Where do you live so we can find retailers or etailers that sell in your location?
Update: Here's a really good Antec unit with more then enough power for the two cards and your system:

You need to be aware, too, that manufactures sometimes lie. So you should stick to quality name brand units such as XFX, Seasonic, Antec, Corsair (generally the TX, HX, AX line), Enermax, EVGA SuperNOVA Gold, PC Power&Cooling.
Here's a good unit available through CPL:

Here's another excellent PSU made by SeaSonic (Theymanufacture XFX PSU's)

thank you, i was getting a little stressed there. No, its a US link but there's a 14 dollar delivery fee to australia, so you reckon the XFX gold standard would be a better fit??

Pretty reasonable shipping for Australia. Yea, that XFX has received top awards from review sites and that EVGA doesn't quite match it. Take a look at the Tier's in this link; the XFX Pro isn't listed but it is nearly identical inside to the Black edition and that one is a tier 1 unit, while the NEX 750 is a Tier 3.

I have to call it a night. Have a good one and repost with any more questions, we'll get back to you.
