Hello. I'm having trouble deciding if a single gtx 780 will be enough for my needs or if I would be better off getting a 780ti

I currently play at 1080p, I have one monitor at 144hz and I want to stream the Heroes of the Storm Alpha, as well as other games at max settings. I have no need for any higher resolutions at this time

My setup is as follows:

i7 3930k
H100i
Currently using a 660ti I may continue to use that just for physx
650 gold seasonic
16gb vengeance ram @1600mhz

My goals are to stream with perfect clarity as well as record to upload to YouTube. I will be doing this with other games other than HOTS. My internet connection is adequate already and I'm able to stream 1080p I just don't have the settings maxed and things don't look as pretty as I want them to.

On a side note I'm very anal about noise. I'm having trouble choosing a quiet card. Do you guys had any suggestions?

I really appreciate your help. Thank you!

If you can stretch your budget, then go directly for GTX780Ti. If you can only afford GTX780, then that is also sufficient as well.

You may want to get the EVGA or MSI Twin Frozr if you're hectic with the GPU's noise. :)

Someone said they would buy the 780 for me and if I wanted the 780ti I would need to come up with a little bit of extra money for the difference.

At 1080 for what I'm doing I'm not sure the ti would be worth. That's why I need help! :D

Hi,

1) I suggest you look into NVidia's SHADOWPLAY if you haven't yet. Very little performance hit.

2) I suggest the GTX780 (EVGA 967MHz or 980MHz model with ACX cooler. $510/$520 via pcpartpicker).

The 967MHz model is the quietest GTX780 I believe. It ties the Asus card under load (36dB) but the Asus card is running at a much lower frequency:

"EVGA did a good job with their cooler design's noise levels... "

I would expect the 780Ti to be noticeably LOUDER.

3) To avoid Screen Tearing, I suggest using Adaptive Half VSync method. At 144Hz that would lock you to 72FPS. Trying to get 144FPS isn't really feasible, and 72FPS is very smooth anyway.

You do not want to use regular VSYNC if you can't maintain the frame rate as you get stuttering.
