Hello, before I ask I want to say thank you for reading, and offering me feedback. I'm building my first pc and any experience, or advice is much appreciated.
TL;DR is at the bottom, along with the Hp pc specs

After reading many comments and forums, and viewing gameplay footage about specific parts, I've managed to have made a list on Pcpartpicker.com of the parts I want to buy.

Here is the list.
Budget is $400

These parts are dated, but they're efficient enough for games I prefer to play, so I am not worried about they're power or benchmark.

So I have this HP pc, I'll offer the link at the bottom for the specs and such. What I plan to do with it, is to take it apart, and then use the 500gb hdd 7200 RPM (doesn't say what kind of sata? Not sure if that matters or not), along with its 4 gb 1333 Mhz ram stick. I'm on a tight budget and if I can reuse these parts that'd be just swell.
Thanks for reading.

Tl;DR: Can I reuse the hard drive, after formatting it, along with the 4 gb 1333 Mhz ram stick, with my pc gaming rig?

I marked windows as free: if you break the old motherboard you could claim this is a replacement and use the HP key. Is this "iffy" and "dodgy": YES. Some people jest use that key anyway without breaking the old motherboard.
Either way I assume the Windows key sticker has gone unused?

And me (I always say "I had to re-install windows and need to activate it." and only use the WebChat support instead of phone support)
