I'm wondering if I should get an aftermarket cooler for my i7 3770. Is there any benefit at all, other than lower noise? I use i7 for gaming.

Solution

I am using aftermarket cooler on my i7 2600, simply because the stock cooler that came with the CPU failed. The stock cooler will do it's job just fine, but the aftermarket cooler is much better at cooling the CPU. Plus i live in a country where the summers can be annoying and hitting 40C for 3 months.
The cooler i use is CM Hyper TX3 Evo and it is $16 i believe.
Mind you, that cool CPU will last more.

If your CPU temperature is fine during all of your computer uses, and you are not experiencing any temperature related issues, then No an aftermarket cooler will not do anything to boost performance.
