Will OC'ing the CPU shorten the life of the CPU?

Solution
CPUs lives are shortened when running at higher temperatures. They all have cut-out temps to stop it getting permanently damaged in the short term. It is applying higher voltages that makes them heat up more. Most cpu's also increase their voltages themselves in response to higher loads. Raising voltages to help overclock then makes these voltages get even higher. And raising the overclock raises the load being applied so the cpu will try to further increase its voltage.

But the hotter it runs, the shorter it's life will be. So use a good cooler in combination with minimal Voltage increases to prolong your cpu's life.

No one can tell you for sure how much an overclocked CPU will last. The thing is how much you will be using your PC (4-5 hours a day?). My i7 2600 runs almost 24/7 for 3 years, sometimes overclocked, sometimes at stock speed. Never experienced a single hiccup.
