The only problem is efficiency. Most PSUs are most efficient at turning AC electricity at the wall into DC that your tower uses when loaded to 50-80% of their output. My tower should max out at around 325W when gaming. If I bought one that had 500W more then that, I'd have an 850W PSU. Half of that output is 425W, something my system could never do. Worse, when I'm just watching a movie or surfing the net, my tower won't draw more then 150W. What percentage is that? My 850W PSU would be VERY bad at converting electricity.

Why does this matter? First, generally the bigger the PSU the most it will cost. (unless you are comparing junk 850W PSUs to good 450W ones.) Second, the more inefficient it is at converting electricity, the more it will pull from the wall and the more you'll spend on your power bill. To answer your question, as Someone_Somewhere said you'll be fine. You can use a 850W PSU on a tower that only needs 325W, 500W, or even 250W and nothing bad will happen. A PSU only supplies what the tower asks, it doesn't "force" 850W into the tower and cause an explosion. But a PSU should be based on what the tower will use. I picked a good quality 450W unit as my 325W load is around 75% of its output. I also picked an 80plus gold unit so that it's better at doing its job then the more popular 80+ bronze units. Your system at listed should pull less then 400W, more if you OC. Adding another 780 into it will put it at around 650W. An 850W PSU would be correct IF you know for sure you'll be upgrading to two GPUs. Seeing as most of us suggest just staying with one video card, I'd stick with a good 500-550W.
