Do you mean 2x8GiB? Because 2x4GiB is 8GiB.

If you're using LGA2011 (with its quad-channel memory controller), pretty big.

If you're using any other socket, go for 2x8GiB.

Most rigs, with the exception of X79/2011 socket and X58/1366 socket, utilize dual channel for DRAM so the 2x8GB is the best bet, very slightly faster at same spec, but primarily less stress on the MC (memory controller) with only 2 sticks instead of 4

I suggest u have 2 8 gb ram, so u have extra ram spot later on.
