recently i haven't been able to display 1080p on my AOC e220Swn monitor the highest resolution is 1600x1200 i have tried re-installing the driver (but there wasn't an option for the specific model only the 2250w) and iv'e tried uninstalling it but that still doesn't work. also in the screen resolution settings it says the display is a "generic non-PnP monitor" or "display device on: VGA" it changes randomly. any answers would be helpful.

More about : display 1080p

Are you using VGA?

If so, can you try HDMI or DVI instead?

Perhaps the EDID data the monitor is sending is wrong (or not working right). Of course, I could be wrong. The monitor provides a list of resolutions it support to Windows without the need for monitor drivers. Windows is VERY strict about following this information, even if it is wrong.

1. Uninstall all the monitor drivers you already installed.
2. Go to Display Settings > Advanced Settings... > [Adapter] tab > List All Modes...
Does it show 1920x1080?
3. Do you have an Nvidia or AMD card? If so, go into the Nvidia or Catalyst control panel and see if you can override the resolution on the monitor that way.
4. Try a DVI-D cable and/or another HDMI cable perhaps.

I'm not sure; digital would be better to use anyways (VGA is analog, thus it is susceptible to subtle pixel issues that can have a minor effect on picture quality).
You can try forcing the resolution in the Nvidia, Catalyst, or Intel control panel.
However, if you have HDMI, DVI, or Displayport, just use that instead.

iv'e tried everything in the catalyst control panel but i cant find anything that works, and the monitor doesn't have a HDMI port only VGA
