My Western Digital Blue 1TB HDD seems to have failed. I am running Windows 8.1 on a desktop. Using a Linux based USB app (I know ZERO about Linux and hate Linux and its million different configs, so please dont suggest more Linux distros) I was able to SEE the contents of my HDD all in the folders I'd expect. They (AVG) want $70 to actually have a chance at retrieving the data... Is there anything that can actually retrieve for free?
