my lenovo b590 was updating and has now frozen with the lenovo logo on the screen and wont do anything, what is happening?

we've now had the laptop repaired we were told that it was due to windows updates, and that a lot of people were experiencing problems with updates conflicting with programmes, don't know how accurate that was but all is now working
