Hi,
I have an HP Pavilion a4316f-b with the following specs
-AMD Athlon II Quad-Core Processor 2.60gHz
-Intergrated Geforce 9100
-Pegatron M2N78-LA (Violet) Motherboard
-6gb of RAM (although it said that on 3gb was availble, any help?)
-300w Power Supply
I play games like TF2 before just fine. But now it's lagging to the point of 4-7 FPS. I can't really play anything now besides web surfing. If anyone can help me or suggest additional upgrades, that would be extremely helpful!

Any other graphic card suggestion that would fit the PC specs? I'm only looking for a graphic card that runs with these components for games such as DayZ, TF2, and various other modern 3D games.

Buy a new computer. Not worth upgrading.
300W PSU wont support anything new. CPU is too old to not be a bottleneck in every modern game.
Buying a GPU would net very little performance.

Get an upgrade package with memory, mobo, cpu, power supply unit and gpu. You might need a new case to fit all new components too. Modern CPU heatsinks are large. Stock coolers suck so avoid if at all possible.
Basicly, buy a new computer but keep the keyboard and mouse...

I just got a PC off of craigslist.
-Intel Core 2 Q9400 Quad-Core 2.66GHz
-NVIDIA GeForce GT 640
-8GB of RAM
is that better?

Replacing an old computer with another old computer? I don't think so.
If you want to be gaming for the next 3-5 years I would suggest:

100$ mobo (ASUS is a good brand)
200$ CPU, quadcore intel i5
80$ ram, 1600 mhz cl9, at least. Whatever CPU + mobo supports. Get two modules, its faster.

250-300$ GPU, again, Asus is a good brand, so is XFX.
100-150$ 7-800 Watt PSU. At least Silver certified.

Case and heatsink is up to you to decide.

It only takes a day to research components.
Just google the component and add 'review' to the end.
For example: 'G-skill ripjaw 1600 mhz review'.
Read a few reviews per component. Also skim thru comments.
If its too much work, get a console.
