Good day,

Recently my computer started freezing randomly; nothing helps besides restarting, but after the restart I get a 0xc000000e error (the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible). Switching the computer off and on again lets me get into Windows, but after a while it freezes again, followed by reboot, error, etc.

Sometimes, instead of a freeze, I get a BSOD followed automatically by a reboot; then the same error message appears.

I tried reinstalling Windows, clearing the CMOS, didn't help. Chkdsk says the hard disk is clear. There were no recent hardware changes. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

(Rig is two years old, i5-2400, 4GB, main hard drive is Crucial M4 128GB, there is also a 2TB Samsung; Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit )

--------
UPDATE: I've just had one of the BSODs and it stayed long enough to see what was written there: it's a Kernel_data_inpage_error, and below it said "Stop: 0x0000007a", followed by 4 long strings (I only managed to write down one before it rebooted: 0xFFFFF6FB40000128. Don't know if it's of any help)

Solution
The problem can be due to different causes like hardware issues, corrupted bootsector, system file corruption or virus/malware infection. Your suggested fixes are:
1. To remove/disconnect non essential hardware and peripherals that are connected to the motherboard,
2. To run the Startup Repair tool from the Windows 7 DVD, http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html
3. To run a virus scanner from a Live CD... some antivirus websites offer the ISO to create a Live CD antivirus.

The startup Repair can repair more than the bootloader, it can repair the registry, system files, drivers, etc. I have run it when the system required repeated times as once did...

The startup Repair can repair more than the bootloader, it can repair the registry, system files, drivers, etc. I have run it when the system required repeated times as once did not do it, neither a second or third time so it took a couple more repairs but it did complete the repairs successfully... so I'd suggest you run suggestion 1 more than once if necessary.
