New gfx card cant get hdmi to work

This has happend to me before but i cannot figure it out this time.

just got a gtx 750 ti and i was going to plug my monitor in using my hdmi so i could use my speakers but it keeps saying no signal? am i doing it wonrg.

I tried shutting it down unpluging the monitor plugging in the hdmi to the monitor and pc then plugging monitor back in.

Well yes and no. Turned out I had 2 hdmi ports. I was trying to connect to the one around the usb ports. I needed to connect to the one which connected to my graphics card. Even the spec of the machine said it only had 1 hdmi port but I suppose it meant it had one working hdmi port. Thats all I can say about my problem, hope it helps
