Hey guys, ive recently bought an R9 295x2 for myself, and its just sat there because i dont have a psu capable of running it. i want 1000+ psu but what makes this question different is i want to also buy sleeved red cables. ive heard i need 2 pci-e 8 pin power cables on separate 12v rails, so any help would be appreciated

please put that thought out of your head immediately. dual 12V railed psus are nothing but trouble.... whomever told you this should never give out any pc advice ever again.

Linus is an idiot, but I really hope those words didn't cross his lips. Maybe he was being ironic or joking or something... I might have a low opinion of the guy but he seems to know enough to not say something like that seriously.

just watched the video, he was talking about taking special care if you DID have a dual 12V rail psu, because if you're not careful it can cause a fire hazard (well, frankly, most dual 12V rail psus were discontinued due to being fire hazards, so he's not really saying much that is new)

Hi ingtar33,

I would buy a 1200w psu say CM v1200 or corsair ax1200i and get an extension sleeve.
Most likely you will upgrade and need more poawarrrr , when you move to a bigger case, the extension will be handy.

Cheers and congrats on the card.

Would either of them PSUs even power the 295x2, along with the rest of the system??

It needs 28a per 8 pin connector and 50a combined current to the pair of 8-pin connectors?

The recommended power is something in the 850w range but it needs specifically 28A per 8 pin connector. I think both seasonic should be able to handle one 295x2. If thinking of hard overclocking then bigger power will be better....
