Hello, my computer specs are as followed :-

CPU - AMD FX-8320
Motherboard - Asus M5A97 R2.0 (Brand new, just a day old)
RAM - Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3
GPU - Msi! 7870 2GBDDR3 OC Edition
HDD - 1TB WD
PSU - CM thunder 500W

Okay so first to begin with, i assembled my rig back in Sep 2013 and i bought a MSI970-G46 Motherboard to go along initially, it was working like a charm uptill December where due to some problem it stopped functioning and it had to go for replacement. I'm not much informed on what was the problem, i just took it straight to where i bought it from and they helped me with the problem. So the MB returned back in a month and it worked again uptill now, without any problems untill suddenly it somehow malfunctioned. I got a deal cut with the place i bought it from and they gave me the new above mentioned mobo at a rather discounted price. So i got it assembled and it all worked out fine there, now i got back home and tried installing Windows 7 on my rig.

Now the problems start here, initially the system wouldn't boot or even POST. I left it overnight thinking i'll take it back again to get it checked, now in the morning i gave it a last try before taking it out and somehow it booted up and the display was on. So after a couple of tries of installing windows, i got through the first phase of the installation where it goes for a restart, now after the restart when it comes to the point of completing installation the system restarts on its own. I tried several times using bootable USB and well always the same result.

Now the system was booting and giving POST at a normal time earlier, but now it's back to the basic it's taking either too long to POST and/or it never gets to the POST and just stays there with all the fans working and the leds on the MB working and the display doesnt turn up.

I'm really looking for some help here, i've tried disassembling the whole darn thing and assembling it back, checked if all the wires are plugged in properly, took out the cpu checked for bent pins , reseated it properly, the GPU is fine as well and the RAM is okay too.

The irritating part is, the system is booting on its own and sometimes it doesn even. Now i understand that it's most likely a MB problem and after a lot of surfing i even thought of updating my BIOS, but my BIOS version is 2201 so i don't think that's the problem.

I would really like some help or guidance on this subject, because firstly i'm completely new to technical stuff and i'm trying to grasp everything the best i can and it's a bit way off my capacity. So any help would be really appreciated.

Cheers.

From what you say here I would guess it is either another faulty motherboard or possibly a faulty/flaky power supply. Can you check the voltages in the bios program? Or check the voltages with a multimeter?

Thanks for the quick reply, i got up this morning and opened my computer and after about 5 minutes of waiting it decided to randomly do a POST and got me to the BIOS screen. So here are the voltage readings as per the BIOS in the AI Tweaker tab ->

CPU Offset Voltage - 1.332V
CPU/NB Offset Voltage - 1.187V
CPU VDDA Voltage - 2.513 - 2.529V (Ranging)
DRAM Voltage - 1.500V
NB Voltage - 1.100V
NB HT VOltage - 1.223 - 1.233 V (Ranging)
NB 1.8V Voltage - 1.800V
SB VOltage - 1.100V

Now in the monitor TAB in the Bios program->
CPU Temp. -> 55C/131F
MB Temp. -> 38C/100F
VCORE Voltage -> 1.332V
3.3V Voltage -> 3.264V
5V VOltage -> 4.971V
12V Voltage -> 11.994V
VDDA2.5V Voltage -> 2.520V

Here's another update, after getting the voltages i tried to boot my HDD which was previously installing windows 8 from a bootable USB now the first step of the installation goes fine and it goes for a restart, after it goes for a restart either it just stays like that with no display or if it decides to boot up it shows the windows logo screen and then it just restarts on its own and the next time it gets back there, it shows a installation got interuppted due to an unexpected restart. I'm really wondering if i made the right choice with the MOBO, please help.

Update: Just updated the bios to version 2301 and trying the windows clean installation again, let's see if it fixes anything.

Update no.2 - Installation still fails after the first phase, i'm clueless to what's going wrong here.

Well what I do is trouble shoot by the process of elimination. Remove everything that isn't necessary to boot the computer. One stick of ram, No Video card, No DVD, Hard drive, etc. Then start by attaching one thing at a time until it starts to do the problem again. If it does it with everything you can take off, off, it's probably the motherboard.

I've been through these steps already and it's being completely random. I am only using one stick of RAM and since the board doesnt have an onboard display card, i have to use the GPU for the display. It's just completely random, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
