SSD Cache not needed?

Hi, I just got a HP ZBook 15 Mobile Workstation. The standard configuration included a 750GB HD and a Liteon 32GB mSATA cache drive.
I replaced the HD with my Samsung 500GB 840 EVO SSD drive, and put another 500GB SSD on a caddy, so common sense dictates the SSD cache is no longer needed.

Now, can I still use the cache mSATA drive for something, or should I just simply go ahead and remove it?

My worries are because the Intel Rapid Storage application is reporting a warning that the 32GB drive is in "Incompatible" mode.

Thanks for your help

WARNING: Before formatting or removing the drive, follow the manufacturer's directions. For example, You may need to unpin programs from caching to the cache drive. Otherwise, Your system may become unstable. (This is from hard-won personal experience with a Fujitsu Lifebook T5010.)

You would think You could just reformat the thing, but sometimes the drivers do not allow this. I tried for days to use the 2GB SSD in my T5010 as a drive-letter-addressable drive. It seems the drivers for my convertible laptop/tablet only work in caching mode.

I suggest You play with Your module's drivers, but only after following all the manufacturer's directions on how to stop using the SSD.

Well, I just disconnected it, and everything seems to be fine. Booting is a bit faster, though. Previously it had a slight delay before the window flag animation started, and now there is no lag.

I think on this particular laptop, the Cache is configured by setting the system as RAID instead of AHCI.
