turning old to new help ?

hi everybody im new around this neck of the woods lol

so the story is i after my 16th birthday i bought an old gaming pc off a guy for 100 quid thing has 4 gb ddr2 ram intel core 2 duo E6600 2.4ghz and so on and so forth
so i now want to start upgrading i bought an asus a55bm a mobo an ati radeon r7 240 graphics card 4 gb corsair ram ddr3 (of course) so questio is whats the best cpu i can buy for under say 80 euro (tight budget no job im only 16 lol) and will i need a new psu it has a 500w in the case already if so best one for under 50 quid ? (again im broke lol) so thanks in advance

P.S do all mobo's use the same power connector ?
and also excuse my horrible puntuation :)

They current ones use the same power, but idk if your old one uses the same as the new ones. If it does, 500w is more than enough. If you need a new one for your build i'd go with antec basiq 350w.

my old mobo is a gigabyte 965p-ds4 so i dot know what it uses and i might also at somestage want to upgrade to graphics card to something meatier

I looked up your motherboard and it has a 20 pin power connector. Most current motherboards use a 24pin power connector, but some psu's come with a 20+4 pin cable that is compatible with both. So check and see what you have to make sure it works.
