Hi, just wondering something...

I just built a new computer and have not even started installing my OS.

I have an i5-4670k and I am using a regular stock intel cooler and i just entered the bios and my temperature is at a steady 46 degrees celcius.

Is this worrying? some people told my 30 degrees celcius is normal and i am scared that my new computer will already take some fixing. It is not even a day old!

Solution
I wouldn't be concerned, I'd go ahead and install windows. Then run core temp or similar to double check it. 46 degrees is hardly hot enough to cause any problems.

So 46/45 idle temp is normal?

What is the ambient temperature like in the room? Also what case are you using?

It's not abnormal, it's a bit on the warm side but if you have only just installed it, it takes time for the thermal paste to 'bed in'. After the machine has been on and off a few times it should improve. Also, when the machine is in BIOS although the CPU is idling it often does not invoke any low power states. So it will be idling, but likely clocked at its default max (non turbo) speed. So it usually does run warmer idling in BIOS than in windows.

I am using the Rosewill blackhack mid tower and the temperature in the the room is probably around 22 degrees celcius.
