Prevent External Hard Drive From Being Ejectable

Hello,

I have an industrial PC running XP in a locked cabinet which I needed to add an external hard drive to, and I want to remove it from Windows's "Safely Remove" menu so an operator doesn't one day accidentally eject it.

I have looked into similar threads where it's an internal SATA involved but trying to modify the solutions to my own purpose was fruitless.

I can provide any system specs needed to help find a solution, I'm a little lost on it.

I don't know if you can do this, but it's an avenue of investigation. Look into modifying local machine security policy to disable access for that users login from performing the task. Is it on a domain this computer or just stand alone?

I don't know if this is what you tried but, you can probably remove the hard drive from the enclosure and just plug it into the computer via Sata. Then it would make it like a hard drive which an average person could not eject.

The computer is stand-alone, the default user has admin privilege, I don't know if I want to mess with changing everything to a new user while everything on the machine itself is working as it needs to.

plus, there is an access port on the outside for plugging in a USB drive for extracting data, I know Safely Remove isn't necessary, but I can't help but think some people here would flip their lid if they couldn't find a way to eject their USB... :)

The manufacturer of this particular industrial PC made it as small as possible, there's no internal space for expansion.

The drive is inside a locked panel, inside a safety cage, I'm not trying to prevent them from unplugging the drive, I'm trying to prevent a situation with a not easily accessible drive.

PC takes about 7 minutes to fully boot with the software we're running - it's in an automotive plant, so higher-ups get all jumpy about any sort of downtime - I wouldn't normally worry about it, but the number of times it's been mistakenly ejected so far has me looking for an answer.
