Hi there.

I am looking at buying a Crossover 27" Monitor with 1440 display. This monitor only comes with a dual DVI port and I am worried about compatibility.
The system I will be connecting is a Metabox p375st (rebranded Clevo) laptop. The output port I will be using is the Thunderbolt.
From the research I have looked at online there is an issue connecting the thunderbolt port with a passive adapter to dual DVI cable. This can be achieved using a active adapter but they cost over 100$.
Now the question that I have is, is this issue because of the thunderbolt port or is it a problem with Apple products connecting to the port. Given I am not using a MAC will a passive adapter work and should I buy a adapter from thunderbolt to dual DVI or for a display mini port (I understand this can be used through the same port) to dual DVI.
Given that the seller sates that these monitors can not be used with a laptop I want to be 100% sure before buying this product.
Thanks very much in advance for any help.

Solution
Not quite $100, but they are pricey, and passive won't work.

For display purposes, TB and mDP are the same thing.

I would suggest spending a little extra on getting a screen with a displayport, given the extra cost of an adapter.

Thanks for the response Someone Somewhere it sounds like that may be the best option
