Hello everyone!

I've recently bought a Elgato capture card (http://www.elgato.com/en/gaming/game-capture-hd)! And I need a way to connect the HDMI out to my monitor!

I have the Dell U2212HM monitor (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...)! And while having a DisplayPort, and DVI Port, it's missing and HDMI port!

I didn't really resherch this, and just bought this HDMI to DisplayPort adapter: http://www.sourcingmap.com/displayport-dp-male-to-hdmi-...

And didn't work! The monitor didn't even realize there was a DisplayPort cable in it, so it just goes into power saver mode after 5 minutes. I think this is because it's not an active adapter?

Anyhow! What I'm trying to say is this: What is the most easy, and cheapest, way to connect an HDMI cable (from the Elgato) to my monitor (Dell U2212HM)?
It would hopefully be outputting to 1080p.

Thank you so much for your help! This site has been really kind and helpful!

what about an HDMI to DVI adapter? They even make the cable with one end HDMI and the other DVI. Thats what i do with my GPU to tv.

So would something like this work?

Sorry if I'm a bit skeptical on a quick buy! I kinda don't want to make the same mistake twice. ;)

yes it will. they also make an adapter it is small like the DVI to VGA adapters if you already have an HDMI cable.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

be sure before this purchase that the video capture card is actually putting out video if possible.

Thank you! I will also make sure that the capture card is outputting. I did test with the other adapter as well (plunging the Wii U directly [heh heh] into the adapter).

Thanks again!
