Hi Dears,

I am having problem in installation of amd catalyst 14.4 for windows 8.1, i have also tried previous versions of amd catalyst 13.12 and 13.9 but i suffer the same problem " install package failure"

some days ago i was using windw7 ultimate 64bit, and my card was working fine, but suddenly during game black screen appeared and drivers were not in the pc, i installed again the latest driver and my card start working, but again same problem happened, game crashed and no display,
some time my GPU gave display and some time it did not, but mobo was working fine every time i plugged VGA into mobo it showed display,
then i decided to install windows 8.1 64bit. since then i m not able to even install amd catalyst.

my gpu is AMD7790 and im using it on intel dh61ww with second generation processor.

Any body know how to solve this problem.
please help!

You'd be correct to presume that the psu should have no bearing on the drivers. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps your overall functionality is getting compromised due to the lack of power. That's unlikely but possible. I highly urge you to switch to onboard graphics and remove your gpu until you replace your psu to protect the rest of your system. In the mean time you can check for a corrupt system image by running an sfc scan.

If you are not familiar how to do this you can try following this video:

If you find that there is an issue or that your system is corrupted perhaps repairing this will allow you to complete the driver install. Good luck!

Try updating your bios if you haven't already. Out of date bios can cause driver issues. Also you need at least a 500W power supply and while you may get away with running a lesser psu for a while eventually if it is not strong enough it will cause you problems using an under-powered unit and may damage more components on your system.

I have already updated bios to version 0121, and intel management 8. when i purchased GPU
and im using corsair CX430 psu.

isn't that enough power for my GPU?

No it's not. You need a 500W psu and I recommend getting a good one. Please upgrade as soon as you can. You are risking damaging your other components.

Even the amd website lists a recommended psu of at least 450W.

Either way you need to upgrade. I would listen to guru3d as he describes the typical gaming system which usually has other power draws that are above average.

ok i ill change my PSU to atleast 500W, but can you help why amd drviers are not able to install in windows 8.1? i presume PSU has nothing to do with installation of drivers.
