I have a new desktop that I have been using for approximately two weeks. Everything has been great with it until I turned it on today. I shut it down the previous night when I went to bed and when I turn it on now everything seems to bee working as normal except I have no display. My mobo does not have a speaker as far as I can tell so i hear no beeps. I have read through lots of forums on here trying to figure this out and I've already done everything suggested. I just want to know if its most likely the video card has failed (since I had already ordered a much better new one anyway). So....everything powers on. the CPU is working because I can feel it getting warm after turning the PC on. I was thinking that it might be the video card because the fan on it sporadically spins very loudly every couple of seconds. And my motherboard doesn't have any on-board video for me to try.

Specs.
MSI 970A-G46 AM3 mobo
AMD FX-4130 3.8ghz Quad Core CPU
2x4GB ddr3 dual channel ram sticks
500GB Hitachi 7200rpm SATA2 HDD
GeForce GT 610 1GB video card....(soon to replace with a R9 270x)
TOP Nano 500w PSU

The power supply is suspect because its a plain wrapper type. When you get the 270x, get a new psu too - something from Tier 1 - http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-su...

Try the graphics card in another pcie slot if you've got one. If that works then your motherboard is stuffed.

Try the card in another pc. If that works, then your motherboard is stuffed and if it doesn't, then your card is stuffed

I tried a different slot and no change. And I don't have another desktop to try. If it is the power supply...would it damage the new video card if I plug it in and try it?

test the card on another pc eg pc shop and pay $..If it works, then get another mobo. Maybe they can check your power supply too.

Got the new video card today. First I tried the old video card using the dvi to vga adapter that came with my new one (i didn't have a dvi cable before) and the old video card worked with dvi, so I guess something was just wrong with the vga connection. I also installed the new card and everything is working great! Thanks for your help :)
