Okay guys, so I have a single 8GB stick of RAM that I placed into my motherboard. The motherboard is a GIGABYTE GA 990FXA UD3. It supports dual channel memory, but the problem I'm having is the Blue Screen. So my question is the RAM causing my BSOD? because I got that RAM stick from a 16GB kit from Corsair. So yes, I used a single stick from a dual-channel kit.

There shouldn't be a issue with what you did.

If the ram is causing blue screens it's because it's defective, not because you're only using half a kit.

Set your bios to default. If that doesn't help try another kit.

Did the bsod start when you first fitted the ram?

Have you got an internal speaker? If so, what sort of beeping was it doing? Does the pc actually POST?

If its a bluescreen, its more likely to be a graphics card and so it does post. But hopefully with more than just 1 beep.
