So,on summer i intend to upgrade some of my old pc's parts and i would like some help on what parts to upgrade first. i was hoping to maybe fully upgrade my pc but that seems hard with my current budget(250€-350$?).maybe i cant start with some things and then buy more parts later.
my current pc specs are:
Ιntel Dual-core E5300 2,66Ghz
Asus P5PKL(socket 775)
Nvidia GeForce 9600GT 1Gb
2GB Ram DDR2
500GB HDD
I would appreciate some help as im not so familiar with pc hardware.

yeah i must check my power supply too, you're right.
what processors do you suggest? can i keep the rest of the parts?
it would be really cool if i can do all these with just 150

the other guy said that i can buy some of them with 150. anything to suggest?
there's also one small posibility to get some parts from US since ill be going for one month.(I suppose they can can come less expensive if i buy them there)

For the cpu, you would want something more powerful than the athalon x4, also the FM2 mobo that the athalon x4 uses has no upgrade path. try for the fx-6300, DDR 2 ram is pretty slow in comparison to DDR3 ram so that may need to be replaced all together. Something like this (in GBP):

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor (£79.43 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£61.93 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£59.98 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £201.34
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

I personally think you should start off by updating the mobo and CPU; I'd rather save up and go for a whole new PC though.

sorry but i dont know what is that.
numanator's build seems good too

every power supply gives certain amperage on each of its rails. if your 450W PSU is old enough, most of itrs wattage will be on the 3.3 and 5v rails, and very little on the 12v rail. That would mean not enough power to run your GPU.

it should be on a sticker on the Power supply

if it's something like this:
psu2.jpg

then it is not suitable. see how teh 3.3 and 5v use far more of the amperage?

Something like this
leistcor.jpg

where the Amps are decisively on the 12v rail

or this:

p10.jpg

Where teh 12v is spread across 2 (or more) rails, but still a majority of the total wattage (23 Amps across the 2 rails in this case)

are more modern supplies and better suited for modern GPUs

Ok thanks for that answer, really helpful. ill might check that out as well.
could i just upgrade my Mobo,CPU and Ram for now?.. to be honest i thought about maybe paying a bit more investing to an Intel i5 processor, an Asus or gigabyte motherboard(can i put 2 gpus on them?) and 2x4GB Ram. so in the future, i can save more money to buy a new power supply and graphics card!
