I recently purchased a new gpu (R9 290 PCS+) and i have a had it about a week.
Now randomly the screen goes black and stays black, but i still have sound. if i reset my pc via the reset button i still dont get anything displayed. but if i turn it off completly and turn it back on then i get my display back. This has happened twice so far.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Your power supply is more than enough. If You want to be 100% sure, You can always check Your card in other PC. If there will be problems Your graphics card is probably broken. Recently a lot of Radeon GPU card having problems. My suggestion is to return card to the pleace where You bought it (read the terms...) and / or exchange it for GForce GPU based. I have 2x GF working in sli - and I never had any problems with them. Lots of my friends also have Nvidia's cards and i never heard them to complain.

Had the same prob....2 times in a row....... its a problem with quality checking the cards. If this is the same prob as me, while gaming the screen will go black and stay black until you manually turn off your computer. I RMA the card back, and had the same thing happen with the next card. A friend had the same card, so i tried putting it into my computer and everything was fine for the 2 days I had it. I ended up getting another 290 (this one worked) But the temps were just to hot (80c) I switched to Nvidia GTX 780 and have been happy ever since.

The card is most likly derfective. I would RMA and either take a chance on getting another card, or investing in Nvidia.

Every company has a different return policy, some its 30 days after you buy, and some others are 15. Contact the company and request an RMA first. They will either refund you or give you a replacement.
