What should I upgrade to get better performance in ARMA 3

So I play Arma 3, Mainly Altis Life, at around 30-40fps on Medium settings with No shadows. I would like to be able to run shadows and possibly some high quality settings, but first I need to know what to upgrade is it my graphics card or my processor?
My current GPU and CPU are
AMD FX 6300 3.5ghz and Radeon 7790 2GB DirectCU II
Which ever I need to upgrade can you please suggest a good upgrade within the limit of $250.

i have the game and trust me this game does not like amd cpu's. get an i5 or i7 for this as this game in my opinion is very cpu demanding and at least r9 270x or gtx 760

There is NO WAY that I can find a motherboard + a i5/i7 for $250 unless one of them is broken. It's just impossible.

Upgrade the GPU, i would Recommend going for a R9 280, it's just within that $250 pricetag.

The CPU should be fine in any game.

Absolutely incorrect. You may not be able to find such a combo NEW, but if you look around in various tech sites' "For Sale" subforums, you could. Most used unlocked i5s from any generation since Sandy Bridge (2500k+) go for around $140-170, and you can get plenty of decent motherboards for under $100. You just have to put in a bit of effort to find these things.

your gpu is junk for that game.................. true a new cpu would also help but the most limiting factor IS the video card.

look at the charts in this review. in the drop down menu at the bottom a list will appear. find specific games and look for your card vs other cards in your price range

and NO, I don't think the 750ti represented there is the card I would get............. it's just a link for comparison.

and i didn't look at the link with the 280 in it above. if you can or want to, i would get the faster card yet.

you will have almost the same performance of a single r9 280x ....but i suggest you to buy the r9 280x instead because you can have some sluttering isues in crossfire its up to you, see under the link
