Suspicious Java Update website

Hi guys,
I was on the internet when a message popped up saying that the java was outdated and it needed to be updated. I didn't click OK. Should I have updated it and was it legitimate? Would my PC be infected by a virus?

Always update java through their official site: https://www.java.com/en/download/

Shut down the browser, update and you should be good to go. If the site still asks you to update it, it's probably a hoax and full of viruses.
