Hello! can anyone give me a hand with my problem? its about the gpu's cooler. some days ago i was trying to clean the gpu and i broke the fan :S so i got a cooler from a psu which i wasnt using and i connected with the gpu but the problem is this one: the stock cooler from the gpu came with 4 pin ( black, yellow, green and blue) and this "new" cooler comes with 2 colors (red and black). so i cut green and blue cables so i can keep the same stock molex and i put the red cable with the yellow one, and the black with the black ? is this how i have to do it?. I mean now the gpu is working well, with 39-40ºC idle but there is a weird a smell like...a burning smell. But i dont notice anything wrong. the card is cold. the motherboard too everything seems fine except this smell...what can be? the cables ? I'm sorry for my english. My graphic card is a Zotac 9800GT Eco.

That big fan could be overloading the card connectors or its onboard power system, I suggest you get another fan and plug it directly into either a spare Molex connector from the power supply or, if the replacement fan has a 3 pin lead, you can plug it into one of the motherboard fan headers, that way you can control its speed through the BIOS.
The type of fan I'm talking about has a 3 pin plug like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103060

oh i dont have any fan with 3 pin, i just have one more fan but with 2 pin for the power supply. But wouldnt be the same? i mean i cant control the speed of the fan from the psu. it would be 100% all the time.

i think i found the problem. can be because this card the stock cooler is pointing to the other side? i mean almost all cards. throw the air to the chip but it seems that this Zotac version throw air to the other side. Look how the cooler was in stock:

this one is what i have and the fan spin to the right

and in almost all other cards the fan spin to the left

Am i right?
