Quad monitor overkill?

Hi everyone, I'm thinking of getting a 4 monitor setup for my new home office, and was wondering if the community could give me a reality check. Basically, I'm planning on having 3 27" QNIX 1440p monitors in a row, with a single AOC 29-inch IPS above them.

I might be doing some gaming in surround (figure I'd set the three monitors on the bottom row to 1080p and just use the top monitor for other stuff when I'm doing that).

Is this too much real estate? My desk can support it (it's 100" by 30"), and I have dual GTX 780s, so I think GPU power is fine). Anyone have experience with this sort of setup? Thanks!

I agree, when Im not gaming but multitasking I find having 3 monitors quite overwheling if you know what I mean. Especially when they are 27inches which can have multiple windows open. I think you should just buy 3 screens and if you feel you need a 4th, then buy another one.

Well I have 3x27inch 1080p Panels and one R9 290x. The GTX 780's are great cards and should run that fine, however the super widscreen monitor will likely have an odd resolution. I think having them all at 1080p or 1440p would be safer. 1440p would stress any GPU array so I would suggest against it.
For example in my eyefinity configuration. I can have 4 panels, 3 for the 5760x1080 resolution and one auxillary. Having that and 2900x1080p whatever it is something..

Thats a lot of monitors but you have the gpu power for it to work. Now you wont get 60fps maybe 30-40 so in the future you could just put in one or two more 780ti's and that would give you a performance boost. Other than that its fine (i personally would only get three monitors but its up to you).

The fourth monitor is really what I'm wondering about. Maybe another 27" QNIX instead of the really wide AOC? Or maybe a really wide 1440p Crossover?

Three monitors are great! All on one row.

The fourth monitor may create an issue of neck strain because it is not in the line of sight. Other than that I don't see any issues. (I have a three monitors inline setup; all three 24" Ultra Sharps.
