Advice and alternatives for components on first PC build

These are the components that I am thinking of using for my first build. The price is a little high so i would appreciate any suggestions that would help me lower it with the least effect on performance as possible. My goal for this system is to be able to play most game on medium/high settings with as little lag as possible.

Well you weren't too specific so I only cut $50 but I did get you a better PSU (much) CPU (slightly) and GPU (slightly). You could ditch the SSD too if you wanted won't help you in games. If you did that you could get a 280 or 280X I believe.

Thanks for the help! i plan on building this over the course of a month, and what kind of performance boost would i see with the 280 or 280x over the 270x?
