So I have a wireless networking card, which is okay, I can connect to the internet, its all good. But, I want to try using an ethernet cable, purely for better Internet I guess, I plugged it in, to the motherboard and router, but it is not detecting anything. You know how if you're connected wirelessly then you just get you're 1 to 5 bars of connection, and if you're connected via Ethernet, then you get like a little computer icon with a cable beside it, well no matter what I can't seem to get the ethernet to 'work'. I literally just built this computer, the motherboard is an Asrock Pro4/MVP, the port on the motherboard is blinking yellow on one side, an on another it's plain red.
Why can't I connect via Ethernet? Any help? Possibly some drivers I need to install, I installed the drivers for a) my motherboard LAN, AND b) the drivers for my wireless networking card

Those are quite good yes. Your upload speed can only get as fast as your router/provider gives you. Consider upgrading your internet package for a higher upload speed or contact your ISP.

Is there an exclamation mark in the icon with the computer and cable beside it? Orange means 10Mbps connection active and Red means 100Mbps connection. The fault isn't in your computer but maybe in the wire or router.

I think I've sorted it now, I had to mess about with the settings a bit, but I just then disconnected from the 'Wireless Connection' then it just instantly connected, still the same colours though, blinking yellow and solid red...?

I also did a speed test, the reason I wanted to try and sort this was to get better Upload speeds, my download speed is roughly 20Mb/s, which is quite good, right? But my Upload is always 1Mb/s soo, that's not so good right?
