My GTX 560 TI Twin Frozr runs idle at 52c and under load it can go into the high 80's! I don't know what i can to lower the temps. when my card is idle the fans run at 50% usage and it leads to the 53c temperature. by the looks of it the card should normally idle around 35 and max at 69. i have never overclocked it other then then one time but it later got put back to stock settings. would cleaning the card with compressed air and replying thermal paste help. could the fans on the Twin Frozr need replacement? what would cause a card to preform at these temps? on a rare occasion the temps have even gone over 90 for small amounts of time. thanks in advance.

i solved the problems of my gtx 550 ti high temperatures 80~85 when i buy a bigger case and installed msi afterburner in my pc and set the gpu cooler to 65% of speed

I already had MSI afterburner from before so i created a custom fan speed settings but now with a 65% fan speed the temps at idle are around 46c. what where your temps after you set your fan speed to 65%? my case sounds like a blow dryer now which i really don't want it to be like. I also tried fans at 100% and the temps started to look like other peoples idle temps! At 100%!

my case has one Cooler in the back that pushes the hot air out of the case + the gpu cooler set to 65% it drops from, 80~85 to 65~73 while playing! when i'm not playing i set the gpu cooler to 30% the minimum that goes and it hardly hits 35c . and the temperature here where i live is around 19~25 C in the season it is now. in the summer i didn't have the bigger case and i wasn't using the msi Afterburner and the temperature was hitting those 80~85 C playing. but even now when i do not set the gpu cooler to 65% when i'm playing the gpu quickly hits 80 C. you tried to clean your gpu? or replace the thermal paste? this may help your graphics card to run a bit more cool
thus is how i solved the temperature problem in my gtx 550 ti. hopefully when summer comes back, the temperature will remain the way it is now

i have just finished A) cleaning my GPU B) doing some nicer cable management around the GPU C) installed a fan in the top of my case to blow cooler air towards the GPU heat sink and fans and D) set a custom fan control. with all that done i have seen the temps go down 5-10c which is nice. i think i am still going to reapply thermal paste to the GPU in hopes of even cooler performance. right now it idles at 42-43 and 77-84c during gaming at 97-99% of the GPU usage.

Anybody have any good methods of applying thermal paste to my card?

do you agree with the method he uses on his application of thermal paste. i heard that spreading the paste could make air bubbles which is not so good for cooling. he even states he is a novice, LOL. i was thinking a cross pattern or diagonal lines or something. whats your opinion.

you heard that spreading the paste could make air bubbles which is not so good for cooling ? but that is the right way! and spreading the paste over the gpu processor could make air bubbles? i never heard such a thing! remove the thermal paste that is there, then add the new amount, and it's not much! is a thin layer so the paste doesn't leak from the sides. i don't know any other way of applying thermal paste than that. and that video i'm sorry but i didn't watch it i thought that guy was going to show how to apply thermal paste in the gpu and not do what you say. and your video card continues with the high temperature?

i will just use the bottom method in this picture. i haven't reapplied it yet but when i do i will be back.

I'm back to my old post to say that i did reapply thermal paste to my graphic card and has made little to no difference. any idea what could be causing these high temperatures?

maybe it is bottleneck? gtx 560 ti would fit much better with one i3 or i5 but i am not sure if the core 2 quad q8200 bottleneck gtx 560 ti.
or maybe your psu isn't delivering enough power to your gpu

Thanks for the reply, i think you might be on to something with the power supply. the power supply i have being from an unknown brand and being 500w (minimum requirements for a GTX 560ti) might lead me to believe that it could be the source of the problem. recently i have also been suffering system reboots during heavy gaming (no BSOD) which i wasn't suffering at the time of posting this thread. In the case that i might have a bottleneck on my hands (never heard of one that would cause overheating) i have a core i7 860 that i just need to get the motherboard working for (LGA 1156) to upgrade my system. my local tech could even test my PSU or even replace it for testing purposes. if that seems to be the problem, what PSU would you recommend. i was thinking a corsair 500+ watt with possible modularity.

Well i have already applied the thermal paste and positive the paste is not the cause of the heat and now the crashing.
