I have a Dell Inspiron 531 Desktop PC with 300W PSU and a VisonTex ATI Radeon HD 5550 graphic card with 1GB DDR Memory.
But, DirecTV Recommends one of the graphics cards with the following graphics processor unit (GPU) installed on your computer in order to play DTCP-IP content.

Intel 965G, G33 graphics
>>nVidia GeForce 7800 GTX 512, GeForce 7900 GX2, GeForce 7900 GTX, GeForce 7950 GX2, GeForce 8400 series, GeForce 8500 series, GeForce 8600 series, GeForce 8800 series
>>ATI (minimum requirements) X1800 series, X1900 series
>>ATI (recommended requirements) ATI Radeon HD 2400, 2600, 2900, 3400, 3600, 3800 series Video RAM: Graphics card memory requires 256MB or above.

I am very confused. Why isn't my graphics card better than the DirecTV "recommended" cards? Doesn't the higher number 5550 vs. 3800 mean something? When I bought the ATI Radeon HD 5550 I thought is was the best graphics card on Tom's Hardware graphics card hierarchy for 300W PSU. But my PC cannot pass the DIRECTV2PC Playback adviser scan. Where do I go from here?

So first I looked at the DirecTV Technical forums which are littered with post like this:

I have a Gateway Core 2 Quad PC and display, driven by an Asus EAH4350 (ATI Radeon HD) graphics card. Both the graphics card and display are HDCP compliant, and connected only with a DVI cable. I've installed the latest driver (Catalyst 11.2, display driver 8.821) off the ATI site.

The DIRECTV2PC Playback Advisor continues to come up all green, except for the graphics card driver. Clicking the info button on that line gets verbage about DTCP-IP -- I'm still checking on compliance. Any words of wisdom out there?

WHAT IS DISTURBING IS THE NUMBER OF SIMILAR POST WITH NO RESPONSE - LIKE DIRECTV FELL ASLEEP AT THE SWITCH. I THING I WOULD BE WASTING MY TIME GOING TO THE TECHNICAL FORUMS SO I WILL TRY TO CONTACT TECH SUPPORT DIRECTLY. STAY TUNED.
