I am upgrading my computer soon and am struggling to decide what OS to get. I currently have Windows 7 and it's good, the look is just getting old. I see people with Windows 8 and get jealous to be honest. The reason I am being held back from Win8 is that I know it doesn't work with some games that I enjoy playing (Like COD4). I know that it is a bit better optimized for games, but I still don't know if it's worth it.

Can you tell me what you prefer/suggest? If it truly is worth it to get Win8 then I will get it and sadly have to say goodbye to the classic game that introduced me to gaming. Thanks.

In the end it's a personal preference.
MS certainly caused a lot of very justified negative feedback with its drastic change in UI for W8. Clearly, as most (tech savvy/heavy) folk still think, they went too far in integrating what is very clearly a tablet/mobile interface into what is traditionally - and very clearly still is (should be) - a desktop environment. These folk thought then and most still do now that MS should have separated out most, if not all, references to the non desktop environment.

However, W8 has changed since its initial release. Only you can decide.

You'll need to do a bit more Googling on W7 vs W8 in general, and on the latest release version in particular.

Personally, I prefer W7 with its greater/easier...

Personally, I prefer W7 with its greater/easier customisation and 'traditional' desktop interface...then again, I liked XP Pro before that...upgrading at some point is inevitable ;)

(without checking myself) I would be surprised if COD4 hasn't been fixed for W8 by now...seems very odd!
