Just what is MSI Super Raid?

Now, before you guys start going all "DON'T YOU READ YOUR MANUAL?!" on me?

Yes I do, only MSI's manual in this case is so bad it's not even worth talking about.

I've been using Raid on my rigs for close to 10 years now, sure the increase in performance is nice (whenever you do notice it) and in games it pretty much does nothing but I still like having it because well, why not?

I bought a MSI case and mobo and started to build a rig, I am pretty much done with the last components by now and I was planning on doing raid 0 on two msata Samsung ssd's (500gb each) for OS and games, while also having two other HDD's (not in raid) for the important stuff, such as videos, music, baby pictures and home videos, you know, stuff that matters, so if Raid 0 decides die, I am covered.

But I've been hearing so much about this "super raid" app. From what I gather, it is just a windows app that configures two ssd's in raid 0 for you, without you having to go to the bios and do it yourself. At the same time though, since you already installed your OS in a regular HDD, you are actually using a sort of hybrid mode, with the OS installed in a regular HDD and then having two smaller ssd's in raid 0 for cache and what not.

Am I correct in assuming this is what super raid is? Or is it some magical jump in raid technology that just went by me while I was sleeping?

If this is the case, is there any advantage of having MSI super raid over actually configuring both Samsung ssd's in raid 0 and simply installing OS in there, forgetting caching altogether?

Documentation on what MSI super raid actually does is so hard to find that I just decided to come and ask.

From my bulld I am noticing MSI loves to do this, this is my first time using a MSI mobo and they have all sorts of windows apps that love to configure stuff in the mobo for you, such ass automatic overclocking (this case even has an overclock button in the front)

I like it a lot but some of these feel gimmicky for sure. I really don't see any advantage in using MSI super raid over regular raid 0. I did read an article somewhere saying that it had the advantage of being able to use trim. But the Samsung evo msata's also support trim in raid 0 in windows 8, as long as you have the latest intel storage controllers and a series 7 chipset (this is a z78 gaming mobo)

So please, someone, get me out of this confusion, I beg of you.
