Direct 3D Acceleration Disabled?

Hi. I asked a question some time ago about certain games of mine not working after a Windows update but I've diagnosed the main problem now.

Direct 3D has been disabled and according to the person at the computer shop that diagnosed my laptop, it was due to the update that made my laptop revert to it's original settings...which I'm not quite sure that it was the problem.

Specs:
Samsung 300E4A
Intel Core i5 - 2450M CPU @ 2.50 GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5 GHz
Win 7 home premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
6144MB RAM
DirectX11

The default GPU is the Intel HD Graphics Family but my laptop is also equipped with NVIDIA GeForce GT 520MX. It's Optimus so it switches graphics card whenever it's supposed to be used.

I've tried updating NVIDIA but nothing happened and my NVIDIA Control Panel went missing after the update so I reverted to the original version and the panel came back. Also tried everything on the NVIDIA Control Panel about the 3D settings, nothing happened.

I've uninstalled & reinstalled directX a couple of times, did a clean install, checked if something's wrong the the card itself, nothing seems to be amiss(or maybe to a computer-illiterate like me :-/). Also tried mostly everything I've read on forums but still nothing changes. I also have this problem when trying to run Goat Simulator(previously working before this problem) and I also get an error about the floating alpha blending something something.

Last month I've tried installing some of my really old games (Windows XP, Windows 95 games) some didn't work, some did but crashed a lot, I think installing one of those might have been the culprit, though I've uninstalled all of them and re-installed everything. Also tried disabling the Intel graphics card but nothing changed. Really lost for a couple of weeks now, please help!

Also if I've called something wrong here, feel free to correct me, I am a n00b when it comes to this.

Solution
1. Set a System Restore point.

2. Rollback to a System Restore point before the problem happened (if possible).

Other:
a) Do you know what was being updated when the problems started?

b) Have you used the drivers from the OFFICIAL support site for your laptop only?

c) Worst-case scenario is to backup anything important, restore the backup IMAGE (Factory Restore), TEST to make sure it works, then update the drivers from the official support site.

d) Once it's fixed and everything's working fine make a backup IMAGE to a secondary drive (Acronis True Image Free if a WD drive is attached, or Seagate DiscWizard for Seagate, Windows backup, or similar)

I did try to restore but still, nothing. I'll just have to back up and restore to factory setting. Thanks! :)

Good luck.
Here's more info on creating a backup IMAGE, by example:

*This uses Acronis True Image Free (WD site) or the same program by different name (Seagate DiscWizard). It requires a USB or internal drive to be present. You must have a WD drive if using the WD version.

1) Install Acronis True Image Free

2) Insert a WD USB hard drive

3) Create a backup Image (use Maximum compression) once everything is installed and working fine.

4) *Keep this first backup image always (in case a virus creeps in later)

5) Create a 2nd backup Image later (every Month or so) and replace that one periodically.

6) Create a Recovery Disc.

RESTORING:
If the main drive fails, or becomes corrupted:

1. Attach the USB drive

2. Backup any important data since last backup (if functional)

3. Boot to the recovery disc (may need to change boot order so DVD is first)

4. RESTORE the latest backup Image.
