purchase two r9 290x, kraken g10 brackets and two corsair h75 water coolers.
I read that the kraken g10 bracket dosent cool the vram and ram chips on the card. After searching various forums i found one person who modded a water block backplate to fit the g10 bracket and some were using copper heatsinks to cool the vram chips, Should I add both waterblock backplate and copper heatsinks. I dont overclock, I just want to protect my investment by lowering the operational temps. I have a corasir H90 on my cpu and temps never go above 57C. cpu is i7 950 oc'd to 4Ghz(3.88)

I just like the idea of the backplate, supposed to add passive cooling to the ram chips. This setup is cheap so anything I can add to make better is a bonus.
Here's breakdown of what ive spent so far
New craigslist sapphire r9 290x $400
Used ebay sapphire r9 290x $350
kraken g10 ebay $30
kraken g10 newegg $35
new corsair H75 $85 for two

looking at backplates which are $30-35 each and
copper heatsinks for vram, need approx 32 chips $40

Alternatively the r9 295x2 is $1350 wholesale, $1500 retail. no-one has them in stock either

There are plenty of other sellers in China/hong kong selling them too. They are similar size to the vram chip to be honest. Im going to use 1 heatsink per 2x VRMs.

i looked thru every heatsink on that site, the 290x vram chips are tiny. I wish a vendor would step-up and put out something quick, the market is there and the product wouldn't cost more than a buck to make and the could markup at least 200 percent or more if they want to be greedy

They dont have to be the exact size of the chip. In fact its better if they are bigger as they can then dissipate more heat.

I dont see that being an issue. Many cards from the factory have one single heatsink across all the VRMs. Obviously this assumes some common sense when putting them on though.

i never done something like this, only reason i went water cooler was due to the all in one closed loop system. Im old school, I dont think water and computers mix. Here's what the bottom of the cooler looks like

Dont worry about it, its a piece of cake.

I previously had my G10 and H55 on another card and im now moving it on to my Gtx 680, I just had to wait for more copper heatsinks to arrive.
