Building a desktop need advice

I have been playing on an Alienware M17x R2 for the last four years. One of my 5870s passed away, and I realized that while I really enjoyed my time with that laptop. I don't really want to spend another ridiculous amount of money on a laptop, and have decided that I'd rather build a desktop. I'm not sure too familiar with desktop parts, and have been looking at review after review, but Idk what is the latest and greatest.

Here's what I have so far:

Hand me down Gigabyte 6970 3gb version
256GB Samsung SSD
2 x 1 TB HDD
3 x 500gb HDD
Blackwidow keyboard
Razer Ouroboros mouse

What's in my cart:

Intel Core i5 4670K 3.4GHz
ASUS Z87 Pro Socket LGA 1150 ATX Intel Motherboard
Cooler Master CM STORM TROOPER Full Tower
Kingston Hyper X Predator 8GB DDR3-2133 PC3-17000)
EVGA SuperNova 1000 1300 Watt Modular Power Supply
Corsair liquid CPU liquid cooler.

I wanted to get a high Watt psu for future upgrades. Too much?
Should I use the 6970, get another 6970, or should I get a new video card?

I plan on playing Diablo 3, league of legends, smite, TITAN FALL, new games yet to be released, and over 100 other games on my steam, origins, and other indie and game sites.

Will the 6970 be alright? Friend gave it to me. (upgraded.)
Should I get a 4770k?
Any other suggestions,builds, or thoughts?

My limit is $1k-1200.

Go for the i5 build but get a 750 or 850W PSU. 1000W is really overkill and there's no point. What I would do is use the 6970 for now( it should all the games you listed fine on max or high settings) and later upgrade to a stronger GPU. A 4770k is just a bit better ( a few fps) than an i5 for $100 more so it really isn't worth it unless you take advantage of its cores by using a rendering program or such.

Also get the cheapest 1.5V 8GB ram you can 1600mhz and above as the ram speeds don't make a difference when gaming.

Lastly use this website to put it all together:

you wont need a z87 motherboard OR the k version of the i5 if you don't plan on overclocking. If you do want to overclock though, you will want a CPU cooler and a z87 board.

Also 1000W might not be a bad idea, because you seem to be pretty fond of sli, or the possibility of it down the road. IF its likely, save yourself the trouble now and get 1000W from a quality OEM. Seasonic, XFX and Antec units tend to use the highest quality parts. the corsair ax 1000w is a wonderful unit too

Case is personal preference, but the phantom is good for the price. Just try to stay away from a full tower, a mid tower offers plenty of space and are cheaper as well.

Ya, I plan on overclocking. Also, that's why I was thinking of that evga psu it's 1300 watts. I would like to do sli or crossfire later on for a multiple display experience.

Considering you can run 780ti sli on 850W, 1300W is really not worth it.

Thanks for that build! Is that psu good enough for a potential crossfire or sli of any new cards I get down the road. Also, I really like that cooler master full tower case I am pretty much set on that one after seeing it today at microcenter.

EDIT: Nvm you answered it above.

Yes, it should run up to the equivalent of two GTX 780s. If you plan to upgrade past the level of that then go for a 850 or 1000W PSU.

Nice! Looks like once you get a new graphics card you'll have a beast of a system.

thanks man! You helped me out a lot.

I have another question though, I keep getting a cpu fan error message when I restart, but the fans on the h100i are spinning fine. Any ideas?
