The i3-2220 would probably win in games that don't take advantage of more than two cores (which is a lot). Starcraft 2 for example should run better on the i3-2220.

His CPU would likely win in games like BF4 as well as tasks that can make use of more cores like HANDBRAKE for video conversion.
