hello, I'm looking for a power supply that would support dual xfire r9 290s and came across the EVGA 1g. I looked on the internet but cant find any reviews on it. It seems like its the same as g2 minus shorter cables and a 5 year warranty as opposed to 10 years with the g2. So, is anyone familiar with the g1 power supply?

only reason i'm not inclined to get the g2 is cause it cost 30$ more than the g1.

Well, i live in Canada and the g2 doesn't have the same rebate. So the difference is around 30$. If the g1 and g2, quality wise, are similar or the same then I'll just go with the g1 :p.

5 Year warranty on G1.
10 Year warranty on G2.

G2 is the higher quality unit.

I am in the same boat as you, the G1 750 W is $20 cheaper. If they are just about the same I can't personally justify buying the newer one just for the sake of the name.

Edit: Here is a link to pretty much the same question on a different forum, it may persuade you to get the G2

Yes that is true, on the overclockers.co.uk forum evgadominik said that only the g1 1000w and above were single rail all the others units below 1000w are multi rail. http://
Also in the hitechlegion review it states that thr 1000w g1 is single rail.
