I have a virus on my computer that is taking up All the space in my C-drive. I know it's a virus because every time my brother goes on this super sketchy website, the space in C will drop down to the point where I can't download, install, or update ANYTHING whatsoever. I have 2 Anti virus programs, AVG and Avast, and have run full system scans with both of them, yet they always come up empty. I have been looking all over the internet for an answer, and people always say "clean your disk." Or "empty your recycle bin" which I have done so many times and the space fills right back up. For example, I deleted a program on my computer that took up 5 GB's, I went to my computer and to C-disk, And it said there was 5 GB's free, I then hit refresh and it said 5 MB's free. I have got this virus multiple times, but each time it get's harder and harder to catch.

P.S my brother WONT be going on that site anymore.

First of all, ALWAYS RUN JUST ONE ANTIVIRUS ON YOUR PC. Having 2 antivirus installed on your pc will just decrease you performance, but won't protect you extra. Second, try to download kaspersky, bitdefender rescue disc, burn it on cd, boot from cd, update database and then do scan for malware.

Read this and pay close attention to the fact we need all specs of your system. and I quote "• If asking a question, provide as much in the way of details as you can to help the experts answer. Include hardware specs and OS."

OK now that the forum rules have been said and reinforced to help us,

what are your system specs and besides the free anti virus's have you tried ant others? How about malware bytes.? https://www.malwarebytes.org/ and Ccleaner? https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

now If non of thes help it is possible you are just running out of disk space, hence we need you system specs to know, and you may need more. The more Info the better we can help you.

@bgunner I can't download anything because of the lack of space. :/

Well here are some specs:
Operating system: Windows 8 pro 64-bit (6.2, build 9200)
Manufacturer: Samsung
System model:R580/R590
BIOS: Phoenix SecureCore(tm) NB Verison11JB.M044.20100622.hkk
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 430 @2.27GHz (4CPUs), ~2.3GHz
Memory: 40496MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11

My current C-Disk space is at 7.75 MBs But it bounces up and down every time I hit refresh. I also noticed while looking through the site 1 Identical case, but with no answer. Here's the link: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2037754/trojan-horse-virus-taking-space-laptop.html

what size HDD is installed?

also because it is windows 8, you can set it back to factory settings and refresh the OS. Doing this will wipe the drive of all info and set it back like new. So copy any info needed. THis is a last case move but it is an option. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc

No matter what you need to free up space to get a program on there to scan the HDD, If you do not do this you are left with the option already mentioned.

I too had this same type of problem but it wasn't happening due to a virus. First of all check if your browser is up to date if not update it.You can also do these things:-
1. Delete Your temp files. Press the windows button on the keyboard (button with the windows logo) + R , type %temp% clear every thing from the folder then type "temp" in run delete all the files from this folder too. Because sometimes viruses hide in the temp folder.
2. Run disk cleanup. search for disk clean up and run it , select all the points and click on ok.
3. i would prefer you should uninstall one antivirus and then run full system scan.
4. i would also prefer you should update your antiviruses.
If the problem is solved or still persists please reply i could prefer more steps.
