Hey guys! So I currently have a Samsung P2370 1080p 23 inch LCD monitor which I have had for a few years now, and I am wondering if its worth upgrading to an LED monitor.

The current one I am looking at is the Samsung SD390 series, 27 inch 1080p PLS, its a brand new release from Samsung and its going for $319.

Do you think its a good upgrade?

Below is the link to the monitor I am looking at:

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I wouldn't recommend upgrading until a quality 2560x1440 monitor is in your budget.

27" at 1920x1080 looks horrible to me. You can easily see the individual pixels, in fact you're likely to move it far back on the table to RESOLVE that issue. I found 23" to be the upper limit I'd recommend at this resolution.

BTW, all LED monitors are LCD. LED just means the backlight. They used to be CCFL but switched to LED but the front part that filters that light is LCD on all monitors (except the old CRT and some rare Sony OLED models).

Other:
It also depends on whether you mainly game, watch video etc. "IPS" panels for example have better colour and wider viewing angles (don't turn black quickly on an angle), but they tend to have a bit of "ghosting" and don't support high refresh rates like 120Hz.

G-Sync is another technology coming soon but I think the minimum price is $400 (for gamers).

Yea I forgot to mention actually that this monitor is going to be used for gaming and movies mainly. Its not the size im worried about, 23 inches is good enough for me, however my biggest issue with the older LCD is that every time I watch a movie or play a game with a dark scene for example, every thing goes dark with Dynamic Contrast Ratio turned on.

If I turn off Dynamic Contrast Ratio, the black are not really black, its all just sort of washed out as you probably already know that from LCD's. So I guess I am thinking an LED will resolve that because it lights up each individual pixel.

Also, from my understanding this monitor is based off PLS, which is IPS but somewhat of a different version, its supposed to be an improvement actually.
