I have an Asus P6X58D-E, Xeon W3520 @ 4GHz (1.22V) and 6GBs of triple channel, Kingmax DDR3 1600MHz ram ( 7-7-7-20 )

When I play battlefield 4 with chrome running, I notice that task manager reports about 5.5GB of ram usage. So I want to upgrade to new ram as I will be recording gameplay as well, which will need more ram. The thing is, do I HAVE to have triple channel ram? Or can I just buy any DDR3 ram modules? Preferably a dual channel kit like g.skill ripjaws 8GB ( 2X4GB )

Solution
Yes, it is best to directly buy a triple channel kit.
1 - If you utilize triple channel then the RAM will perform 10-15% faster then without doing so.
2 - If you buy separate modules, there is no guarantee they will play along. RAM is a bit strange sometimes and just refuses to work for some no apparent reasons, and solving that issue could cost a lot of time and nerves. By buying a kit, you get the guarantee that those sticks have been tested to work together properly.
3 - There are some pretty good deals on 3x4 kits out there now like:

And ofcourse others. Just be sure that your CPU cooler wont interfere with tall memory sticks.
