Hi guys, I really need help on this one as I really need the 5.1 Surround sound. I was using a Gigabyte GA-A75M UD2H motherboard which had the Dolby Digital Live option in Realtek but I recently upgraded to Asus P8Z68 Deluxe and installed the updated drivers but I cant seem to find an option to enable Dolby Digital Live in the Realtek HD Audio Manager. Can anyone help me?

Thank you,

Chris

There's no Dolby Digital Live or Dolby anything mentioned on the ASUS P8Z68 Deluxe specifications page, just says it has "DTS Surround": http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8Z68_DELUXE/specifica...

You would need to buy a sound card that supports it such as one of the Creative cards. However, DTS is pretty much the same thing anyway, just a different developer using a different name for it. They are both digital sound.

Thanks again for the reply Phillip. So if I were to use a headset and plug it through the audio optical port, I will get surround sound?

Provided they are surround sound headphones, yes. But for real surround sound experience you need a set of 7.1 speakers, since your motherboard supports 8-channel sound. Headphones claim to be surround sound but technically in my opinion there's not enough spacial separation between the small speaker units in them to get true surround sound, not like you can achieve with a set of speakers spaced properly around the room a suitable distance from your ears.

Stereo is great with headphones, but anything more than that you need speakers to appreciate it.

Thanks for the help Phillip. Im actually using Astro A40 2013 Edition with Mixamp pro. It has Dolby Surround. I will test it out. Thanks again.
