Asus GTX 660 DIRECTCUII comes with base gpu clock of 980 Mhz and 960 cuda cores ,192 bit 2gb GDDR5 6008 Mhz.
I am pairing it up with six core AMD FX 6300 how would it perform with BF4 on high - ultra custom settings at 1080p res.
Does greater cuda cores help the game run smoother? Or does it result in higher fps count?
Should I settle with above gpu or give a look at XFX R7870 2GB??
And would 4gb ram be enough?

Solution
everything in the graphics card counts when it comes to gaming, all parts are dependent of each other. That card and CPU will do well in BF4, but not ultra, I'd go for the 7870 over the 660 as BF4 uses AMD's mantle engine, making AMD cards perform better, as they have the better driver.

How would 7870 work with future titles such for instance watch dogs will it help me max it out at 1080p?would there be a major difference bw gtx 660 and hd7870 in terms of performance because where I live there is a 40$ difference bw em.
And would the 4gb ram do well?

Hey brother,
I have a Gigabyte GTX 660 and AMD FX 6300 to overclocked to 3.7GHz.
I run battlefield 4 with partially low settings, with everything turned off that has the option to be turned off and everything set to low except resolution. I usually get about 30 fps in heavy gunfights and jumps from between 40-60 fps in 64 player matches.
I'll tell you this, after overclocking my cpu by just a little bit I had a jump in performance with a nice hit of about 7 fps. I'm proud of my 660 but thinking of upgrading soon to a 770.
I know that the 770 outperforms the R9 290 even with mantle support.

What on earth are you basing that on? The GTX 770 doesn't outperform the R 290 (which is pretty much on par with the GTX 780). Post some links if you make claims like that.

Numbers (clock speeds etc) mean nothing, actual gaming benchmarks do:

The GTX 770 outperforms the R9 290? Doesn't look like that to me.

What would be the range of my fps with gtx 660 and fx 6300 in bf4 set at high preset at 1080 p will I be able to get 40-50fps?
Or should I switch to the hd 7870 to take afvantage of the mantle?

And according to uptodatewiththeworld are u seriously getting that low fps on low settings?
With the base clock speed of the fx 6300 and gtx 660 as stated by DICE a part of recommended requirements u shouldn't be getting frame rates this low!
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/graphics/2013/11/27/battlefield-4-performance-analysis/3
As per the link above u should be getting average of 83 fps with i7 , with fx 6300 not less than 50 fps av.

You're gonna need to tweak it abit using BF4 settings editor, that way when you tweak it will play at the current framerates I play at.
There are some options ingame which with even a HD 7870 would not get high framerates. I recommend you stick to your GTX 660 but watch a youtube video with the BF4 settings editor. Disabling some things that you can't do ingame is just a positive remark.

From what I have been reading mantle isn't working properly with BF4, and most people don't even use it. As far as future titles there is no way of knowing. the best thing you can do to future proof your PC is to get the best parts you can afford right now.

Without knowing your complete computer specs I would say get the best GPU in your budget, if you are looking for ultra preset in BF4 you may have to look at the gtx 770 or higher. Then start saving for a new CPU, by the time your GPU can't keep up with games you can get another and run it in SLI. (the price will have dropped allot) but without knowing your budget it is hard to help you out.

4GB of ram could be an issue with some of the new games, I think you would see an improvement if you could bump up to 8gb of memory.

Cpu : fx 6300
Gpu:asus gtx 660 DirectCU 2
MB:gigabyte 970lmt usb3 which facilitates sli....incase I will need another gtx 660 in future for cheap. My question was that im building this for playing bf4 and titanfall at 1080p on med-high setting with decnts fps in the range of 40 to 50.
Will I achieve such frame rates.

If I remember correctly mantle can only run on the r9/r7 series cards. So if you do want mantle you would need to get something from that lineup.
Since you want a 660 I'm assuming you have about a $200 budget, at that price I would recommend the R9 270.
The 270 can use mantle, and should get you on high settings, maybe even ultra.

The 660 should get around 50 fps in BF4 on ultra with MSAA turned down, I don’t know how your CPU (with 6 cores) will affect those numbers though I know BF4 also hits your CPU hard. If you did get a second 660 you should be good for a couple of years with new games before you start taking hard hits to your FPS. Honestly that is just a guess because there is no way of knowing for sure how much power any new games will require.
